The Hemingway Career and Technology Center will host a youth apprenticeship meeting with business and industry to share information on how to offer students apprenticeships and a paycheck for their time and efforts. The event will be held January 27, at 10:00 A.M. at the Williamsburg County Economic Development Office at 103 W. Main Street, Kingstree.

According to a press release issued by Torrance Wilson, Williamsburg County School District Advisory Board, employers will be able to create recruitment pipelines, decrease costly turnovers, influence, mold and shape potential future employees and qualify for a South Carolina tax credit for each apprentice.

High school apprentices can earn a paycheck while they learn, obtain critical sought-after work skills and strengthen their academic skills and in turn their academic success.

Apprenticeship South Carolina, South Carolina Department of Commerce, Williamsburg County Economic Development Board and the Williamsburg County School District is sponsoring the event. For more information contact Mr. Wilson at Twilson@wcsd.k12.sc.us or 843-558-5823.
