The Williamsburg HomeTown Chamber presented the Image Award for December to Nan Ya Plastics. The Nan Ya site near Lake City has the distinction of being the largest employer in Williamsburg County and is the largest plant in the Nan Ya Plastics Corporation. The local plant, a part of the Formosa Plastics Group based in Taiwan, broke ground in 1989 and began commercial production in 1992.
The manufacturing facility represents approximately $1 billion of capital investments and nearly 1,000 full-time South Carolina jobs. Nan Ya Plastics produces a wide range of products from PET resins that are used to produce food packaging such as water bottles and soda bottles, to high quality filament yarns for branded apparel and automotive interiors.
