USDA to be feted in Williamsburg County

KINGSTREE, S.C. – Williamsburg County will be host to an Appreciation Day for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’a Rural Development program and officials. The event is to show appreciation for the millions of dollars in grants and loans contributed to the county specifically, and to the region, in general.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. on April 20. USDA has helped fund nearly $174 million in the community since 2009. Funded projects include housing, water and environmental programs and grants to improve community facilities. Several governmental entities and cooperatives are participating in the event, including Farmers Telephone, Santee Electric, the Town of Kingstree, the Town of Andrews and Telamon Youthbuild.

The Santee Electric Cooperative Conference Center at 424 Sumter Highway in Kingstree will be the site for the festivities.
